PAPERWORK FOR U.S. CUSTOMS
The cost of moving between US and Canada is based on
the northamerican vanlines tariff, using
the weight of your shipment and the distance from your origin to your
destination. There are a few documents required by the United States government when you relocate
your personal possessions to the US.
ALL PERSONS RELOCATING
Complete and sign a 3299 customs form which you can fill in online and print
- just click on the following link:
"Declaration
for Free Entry of Unaccompanied Articles"
The 3299 must accompany every shipment which crosses the United States
border. The driver will complete an inventory list when your shipment is
loaded. You need not list the items on the Declaration, as the Driver's list
will be attached to the "3299". Simply state on the form that
you are shipping "used household and personal items as per
inventory".
In addition to the 3299, the following documents will be required - depending on your
citizenship or situation.
CANADIAN CITIZENS
- a copy of the picture page of your passport
- a copy of valid student or work visa
AMERICAN CITIZENS
- a copy of the picture page of your passport, or
- a copy of your birth certificate and one piece of photo ID
- and a copy of your Social Security card
ESTATE INHERITANCES
- copy of the picture page of your passport
- copy of death certificate
- copy of the will

all the following
documentation is required:
