PAPERWORK FOR U.S. CUSTOMS

The cost of moving between US and Canada is based on the northamerican vanlines tariff, using the weight of your shipment and the distance from your origin to your destination. There are a few documents required by the United States government when you relocate your personal possessions from Canada to the US. us relocation

ALL PERSONS RELOCATING
Complete and sign a "3299" customs form, which allows you to ship your household and personal possessions into the States duty-free.
You can complete this interactive form online and print -  just click on the following link to the Border Protection website:
"Declaration for Free Entry of Unaccompanied Articles - 3299"
The 3299 must accompany every shipment which crosses the United States border. The driver will complete an inventory list when your shipment is loaded. You need not list the items on the Declaration, as the Driver's list will be attached to the "3299". Simply state on the form that you are shipping "used household goods and personal items as per inventory". You must write your Social Insurance Number or your Social Security Number on the front of the first page of the "3299".

In addition to the 3299, the following documents will be required - depending on your citizenship or situation.
