Established in 1984, Children’s Wish is a national non-profit organization dedicated to fulfilling a favourite wish for children diagnosed with life-threatening illnesses. Since its inception, Children’s Wish has granted more than 20,000 wishes for children and their families and fulfills approximately 1000 wishes annually.
Trucking For a Cure is a support group on behalf of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation-Ontario, which consists of professional organizations and individuals of the transportation industry. CAM is Canada’s trade association representing professional moving and storage companies. Members include movers and relocation companies, van lines and international movers both in Canada and overseas. Established in 1936, AMSA is the U.S. trade association for the professional moving industry and they represent 3,200 van lines, independent moving companies and suppliers. Phillips Moving appreciates AMSA’s efforts to educate both movers and consumers.
The Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB) is the big voice for small businesses. For over 40 years, they have represented the interests of the small business community to all three levels of government.
WSIB is legislated by the Ontario government and they are responsible for administering the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act (WSIA) and is funded by the employers of Ontario, like Phillips Moving. Being registered with WSIB ensures companies adhere to strict safety guidelines and protects employees as well as customers should an accident happen to a worker on their property.
Meet the Phillips Team
Position: Long Distance Van Foreman
As ‘vanguard’ van foreman, Shawn is qualified to haul shipments across Canada year round. Beginning his career with Phillips in 2015, he has worked in the moving industry since his early teens. He is now 32 years old, and moving furniture is in his blood, having worked with his brother as his assistant as a teenager. After taking five years off to recover from a motorcycle accident, he returned to the moving industry.
When not on the job, Shawn spends a great deal of time raising his four children (two girls and boys) who all look up to him. He has an easygoing, positive personality and a large love for life, being quite the thrill seeker. He enjoys skiing, skydiving, playing his acoustic guitar and truck driving as hobbies.
Positions: Warehouse Manager, Customer Service Manager, Backup Driver and Backup Dispatch
Vince joined Phillips in mid 2014 as a driver, but moved into the office in early 2015 where he now maintains several roles within the company. He has been a professional unionized Actor and Director for over 20 years, on camera and on stage. He is also an accomplished equestrian and swordsman, having been a Medieval Times Knight for over seven years. Although long gone from there, he maintains that training to this day, now moving away from choreography, and into full contact.
A true Renaissance man in modern times, there isn’t much that Vince hasn’t tried and excelled at. Apart from considerable responsibilities at Phillips, he serves as the Artistic Director for Pellegrini National Opera, a small but growing professional opera company based in Ottawa.
Position: Publications Freelancer
Branden is a graduate of York University’s Business Administration Studies program with a specialization in Marketing. He lives by his personal mantra, which he calls “4M”. His endeavors are all related to marketing, music, martial arts and mentorship.
When not working, Branden enjoys volunteering at the Canadian marketing Association and playing the saxophone for his R&B cover band.
Position: Relocation Consultant
Laura began her professional career as a Relocation Consultant with Phillips Moving & Storage in 2007. She also has experience in the transportation industry providing freight and LTL services.
Whether her clients are moving their household goods locally or internationally or if her commercial customers are relocating their offices, she is pleased to play a key role by helping them in a supportive and knowledgeable way through their relocation process.
She enjoys meeting new people daily as well as the rewards of helping people through their move experience to ensure it is a positive one!
